3,000 Miles Off-Broadway Productions to Present 2WENTY 7EVEN: JANIS, JIMI & THE DOORS

By:

3,000 Miles Off-Broadway Productions presents 2WENTY 7EVEN: JANIS, JIMI & THE DOORS at the historic El Portal Mainstage Theatre, in the NOHO Arts District, North Hollywood, CA. This special 4 show only engagement will be presented April 15, 16 & 17, 2016.

2wenty 7even is a re-creation of three of the most iconic rock stars who changed rock and roll history and died too young. The power of the music of these great artists has long outlived the people themselves, each of whom died - perhaps suspiciously so - at the tender age of 27. Byron Bordeaux stars as JIMI HENDRIX, Lani Ramos as JANIS JOPLIN, and Jason Tosta as JIM MORRISON. Each performer will sing and play the greatest songs from each rock hero, backed by LA's own Strange Days tribute band.

The 27 Club is a term that refers to a number of popular musicians who died at age 27. The number of musicians who have died at this age and the circumstances of many of those deaths have given rise to the idea that premature deaths at this age are unusually common. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all died at the age of 27 between 1969 and 1971. At the time, the coincidence gave rise to some comment but it was not until the death of Kurt Cobain, about two and a half decades later, that the idea of a "27 Club" began to catch on in public perception. In 2011, seventeen years after Cobain's death, Amy Winehouse died at the age of 27, and there was a large amount of media attention devoted to the club once again.

Lani Ramos, lead singer of her band, Big Pearl The & Fugitives Of Funk (BP&TFOF), first performed the Janis Joplin segment at the 17th Annual Janis Joplin Birthday Bash & Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame 2004 awards show in Port Arthur, TX. Ramos appeared on local news channels promoting her segment at the bash as the "Janis chick" and wound up selling out of her debut solo album, Scoot Boogie Baby's, Lani Ramos.

Byron Bordeaux began performing his tribute to Jimi Hendrix in and soon joined the Experience Hendrix Tour alongside Hendrix bassist Billy Cox. If there ever were to have been a Jimi Hendrix school of the accomplished Hendrix guitarist, a safe bet is that Byron Bordeaux would be its only graduate.

Strange Days, a Tribute to the Doors, stars lead singer Jason Tosta, who seems to channel Jim Morrison at times with his looks and phrasing. Robert Carsten on guitar, Michael Jacobson on keyboards and key bass and Derek Smith as John Densmore. STRANGE DAYS was chosen by Ryan Seacrest and Mark Cuban as the best Doors Tribute for their AXS tv show WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTES....
