A portion of proceeds from SoLuna Studio's upcoming production of HAIR will benefit the It Gets Better Project. Performances will run on weekends from July 12th-August 18th.

HAIR, a musical by James Rado, Gerome Ragni, and Galt MacDermot, opened off-Broadway in October 1967 at The Public Theater. It has played on Broadway and in various touring companies many times since, including a Broadway revival in 2009 which won a Tony Award and A Drama Desk Award for best revival of a musical.

"We have created our theater to be a safe haven," says director Karen Braun. "No matter what struggles people are facing at home, work, or school, we hope everyone who comes to our stage feels loved and accepted, and like they can be their true selves. HAIR is all about love and acceptance and fits in perfectly with the mission of the It Gets Better Project."

HAIR will run for a total of 18 performances on Friday and Saturday evening with matinees on Sundays beginning on July 12th. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors.

The It Gets Better Project's mission is to communicate to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them. In many instances, gay and lesbian adolescents are taunted - even tortured - simply for being themselves. Without other openly gay adults and mentors in their lives, they can't imagine what their future may hold. While many of these teens couldn't see a positive future for themselves, we can. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone - and it WILL get better.

ItGetsBetter.org is a place where young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender can see how love and happiness can be a reality in their future. It's a place where our straight allies can visit and support their friends and family members. It's a place where people can share their stories, take the It Gets Better Project pledge and watch videos of love and support.

The It Gets Better Project has become a worldwide movement, inspiring more than 50,000 user-created videos viewed more than 50 million times. To date, the project has received submissions from celebrities, organizations, activists, politicians and media personalities.
