Gateway Offers Seminar with Casting Director of NBC's THE BLACKLIS Today

By:

Due to popular demand, the Gateway will hold an informational seminar for young and emerging film, television and theatre actors at 4pm today, Nov. 17 at Bellport's Gateway Playhouse.

Jessica Kelly, a Manhattan-based arts and entertainment professional, will headline the panel. Ms. Kelly is currently casting NBC's new hit show, "The Blacklist," starring James Spader, as well as the upcoming Adam Sandler film "Men, Women and Children," directed by Jason Reitman. Her previous credits include "Precious," "Young Adult," "The Wolverine," "Labor Day," "The English Teacher," "Pan Am" and "The Carrie Diaries."

Ms. Kelly is former student at the Gateway Acting School and began her career at the Gateway casting department, assisting Gateway Acting School Director and Founder Robin Joy Allan. Ms. Allan has cast several feature films and television shows, including "When Harry Met Sally," "Lord of the Flies," "Parenthood" and "Growing Pains." Ms. Allan will join Ms. Kelly on the seminar panel.

Officially titled, "Gateway's Casting Seminar: Making it in Film, Television and Theatre - All Your 'How To' Questions Answered," this informational session will offer advice and guidance to those looking to enter the professional arts and entertainment business. Discussion will cover headshots, agents, casting directors, managers, training, how to audition, legitimate modeling agencies, open casting calls, and more.

After the seminar, interested performers can participate in an informal Q&A, and will meet Ms. Kelly and can submit a resume and/or headshot to be placed on file for future consideration.

The cost for "Gateway's Casting Seminar: Making it in Film, Television and Theatre - All Your 'How To' Questions Answered" is $75 for performers. Performers younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Chaperone tickets are available at the discounted price of $25, with purchase of performer ticket.
