Fischer Landau Center for Art Announces Exhibits On View Through 3/29

By:

The Fisher Landau Center for Art has announced their exhibitions on view through March 29th 2010.

FIVE DECADES OF PASSION. Part Two: The Founding of the Center.

An exhibition highlighting Emily Fisher Landau's unique vision in building the Fisher Landau Center for Art's collection. Focusing on groupings of artists that Mrs. Landau collected between 1989 & 1991, the exhibition offers an intimate glimpse into her passionate legacy. During this time period over 300 artworks were acquired, with this exhibition highlighting over 120 pieces by 60 artists. Presented in a manner that allows the viewer insight into her enthusiastic journey, the exhibition creates a visual dialogue among the artists and the collector who recognized their individual talents as a unified whole.

WE ARE THE WORLD: Figures & Portraits.

Inspired by Gary Hume's image of "Michael", We Are the World presents a multi-media exhibition that celebrates the artists' ability to capture humanity in a wide-ranging fashion. From self-portraits to conceptual strategies, the exhibition surrounds viewers with an audience that blurs the notion of who's on display. The individual understanding of each artist is revealed through their ability to capture limitless possibilities through the mediums of painting, sculpture, photography and works on paper. Included in the exhibition are a number of artworks inspired by Mrs. Landau, her family and cherished friends by Andy Warhol, Robert Mapplethorpe, Annie Leibovitz, Peter Hujar, Inez van Lamsweerde, Robert Rauschenberg, Bruce Weber, Adam Fuss and Timothy Greenfield-Sanders.
