Beavercreek Community Theatre has announced its show line up for the 2009-2010 season.
Sept. 18 through Sept. 27 - Edge of the Creek Productions, a production arm of BCT presenting mature audience fare, will present "The Great American Trailer Park Musical." Director Doug Lloyd will be conducting auditions on July 6 and 7.
There's a new tenant at Armadillo Acres, and she's wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, a stripper on the run from a crazed boyfriend, comes between the Dr. Phil loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband, the storms begin to brew.
Oct. 23 through Nov. 1 - Beavercreek Community Theatre will present "The Dixie Swim Club," a comedy about friendships that last forever. The director,
Greg Smith, will be conducting auditions on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
Five Southern women, whose friendships began in college, get together once a year to recharge their relationships. When fate throws a wrench into one of their lives, these friends prove the enduring power of teamwork, rallying around with strength and love.
Dec. 4 through Dec. 13 - the BCT Children's Theatre will present "Sherlock Holmes," adapted from Sir Arthur Doyle's famous detective story. Director Teresa Connair will conduct auditions on Oct. 20 and 21.
Alice has letters written by a dead girl. Moriarty wants those letters and so does Holmes. So, the race is on to get them, but not before the professor's gang has London in its grip. Only the young Holmes understands the professor's objective and he's willing to put his life on the line to stop it.
Jan. 29 through Feb. 7 - Beavercreek Community Theatre will present
Neil Simon's "God's Favorite." Director Jim Lockwood will hold auditions on Nov. 16 and 17.
Simon takes the biblical book of Job and transfers the story to a Long Island mansion, where one night a messenger from God shows up to announce that the tycoon's faith is about to be tested. However, although they create plenty of humor, an itch, not an itch, neuralgia, hemorrhoids or even losing everything, can make him waver.
March 12 through March 21 - Beavercreek Community Theatre will present "Romeo & Bernadette." Director
John Falkenbach will hold auditions on Jan. 4 and 5.
Some might think Romeo died at the climax of "Romeo and Juliet" but in "Romeo & Bernadette" we learn he actually took a sleeping potion. When he wakes up, a few centuries later, he's in Brooklyn surrounded by sassy dames, warring dons and some of the world's most recognizable Italian melodies.
April 23 through May 2 - BCT Children's Theatre will present "The Patchwork Girl of Oz." Director Teresa Connair will hold auditions on March 9 and 10.
This enchanting tale blends familiar Oz characters with some delightful new ones in the story of a patchwork doll that comes to life and accidentally spills the liquid of petrification, turning Uncle Nunkie to stone and bringing the beautiful fountain statue to life. The quest is then on to find the remedy.
June 18 through June 27 - BCT's Edge of the Creek Productions will present "The Who's TOMMY." Director Chris Harmon will be conducted auditions on April 12 and 13.
In the classic 60's rock opera by The Who, a young boy is traumatized into catatonia and grows up suffering abuse at the hands of his sadistic relatives and neighbors. However, as an adolescent, he develops an uncanny knack for playing pinball and, after his mother breaks through is catatonia, he becomes an international pinball superstar.
All productions run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at the Beavercreek Community Theatre, located within the Lofino Adult Enrichment and Cultural Arts Center, 3868 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek.
Beavercreek Community Theatre offers a Flex Pass, which allows patrons to select packages of 3 shows, 5 shows, or all 7 shows. Rates, for three shows of the patron's choice, are $34 for adults and $30 for seniors; for five shows it is $54 for adults and $44 for seniors. To attend all seven shows, the season pass costs $72 for adults and $60 for seniors.
Patrons can select the desired performance dates and seats at the time of the Flex Pass purchase or they can make the selections at a later date. Individual ticket prices will remain at the 2008-2009 rate of $12 for adults and $11 for BCT members, students and senior citizens.
