Bay Street Theatre today announced the KIDS SCHOOL VACATION THEATRE CAMP April 9-13; 9 am – 3 pm daily. Back by popular demand, this week long session will include classes and games incorporating every aspect of theatre:  acting, singing, dance, improv & more.   Students will write and perform in their own original production. The April camp will be led by Susan Galardi and Bethany Dellapolla.

Last year Bay Street's Theatre Camp received rave reviews from both students and parents alike. One parent said, "You must know how positively you all impact upon the kids involved and how grateful we are as parents to have our children guided through this camp with love and discipline and creativity."

Susan Galardi's focus for the camp is working as vocal coach, basic singing instruction, helping shape and write the play the kids will perform, and directing. A graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University and the Manhattan School of Music (Vocal Performance), Susan is a singer/actor/songwriter/playwright and a member of Actor's Equity.

As a performer, Susan was cast as the lead in many off-Broadway musicals and opera workshops in New York. She performed her original one-woman show, directed by Betty Buckley, in NYC and the Hamptons. In the Hamptons, Susan was cast as Miss Maudie in the Equity production of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD at the Bay Street Theater; read leading dramatic roles in Naked Stage productions at Guild Hall; and played a leading role in her original children's musical, WHO IS NATALIE SPOO?, for which she wrote the book, lyrics and music for the 10-person musical. Susan also wrote book/lyrics/music for her musical LIVING PROOF, produced three times in New York City to critical praise. In the area of improv/comedy, Susan appeared in many pre-taped sketch comedy spots on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "Comedy Central."

"The sheer fun of improv comedy and acting exercises, or learning a song or developing a short theater piece, engages children in problem solving, creative thinking, and collaboration. Through simple character study, they walk in someone else's shoes and gain insight into themselves and others," says Galardi.

At Bay Street Kids Theatre Camp, Bethany Dellapolla leads improvs and acting exercises, and teaches all dance and choreography. She received her BA in both Theatre Performance and Radio/Television Production from SUNY New Paltz. Currently, she is pursuing her Master's Degree in Childhood Education (Birth - 6), and is set to graduate in May with honors.

She is a proud member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Regional and NYC Acting Credits include: FOR NO GOOD REASON (Margie), WORKING (Delores Dante), THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE (Olive Ostrovsky), CABARET (Frenchie/Lady #2), THE LARAMIE PROJECT (Romaine, et al), COMPANY (Jenny), RUTHLESS! (Lita Encore), VAUDVILLE FOLLIES (Dancer), THE NEW WORLD (Featured Vocalist, NYC) and THE MISS FIRECRACKER CONTEST (Popeye, NYC).

Theatre Camp is recommended for children ages 8 to 12 years old. The cost for one week is $375 per child. Students are required to bring a bag lunch and have a willingness to learn. Bay Street will provide the rest, including snacks. Class size is limited and fills up quickly. The last three years sold out fast. To sign up, call Mary Ellen DiPrisco in the Bay Street Administration Office at 631-725-0818 ext. 112.
