Change the world, one dance step at a time! Actors Theatre of Little Rock’s immersive production of Hairspray invites you to step right into the rhythm of 1960s Baltimore, where the 1950s are out and change is in the air! You won’t just watch the story unfold — you’ll be part of the movement, swept up in the Corny Collins Show, the beat of the music, and the joy of a community on the brink of transformation.
Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Hairspray is a big and bold, family-friendly hit piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs. At the heart of it all is Tracy Turnblad, a girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance, to fight for what’s right, and to prove that you really can’t stop the beat.

To wrap up Season 3 for Actors Theatre of Little Rock, they ended with Hairspray—a show I’ve been wanting to see live for a long time. From December 3–20, this cast brought the beat to the Quapaw United Methodist Church basement, transforming the space into an immersive, joy-filled playground bursting with big hair, bold voices, and infectious energy.
