U.S. Vets Initiative Holds Auditions For TRULY DUALLY 9/10 & 9/12

United States Veterans Initiative, a non-profit working with homeless veterans, is presenting TRULY DUALLY: A MUSICAL ABOUT HOMELESSNESS at the Las Vegas Library Theatre in mid-November.

We are looking for a diverse cast of community professionals, students, military veterans, and individuals who have experienced homelessness and/or mental illness. Experience or age not a barrier. Desire, enthusiasm and availability a must!!

Need 15 to 20 actors including adult men, adult women, boy (8 to 10 yrs). Six (6) lead parts, 12 to 15 other parts.

Truly Dually is an emotionally powerful, lyrically intense, witty and uplifting, one-of-a-kind musical that depicts the humanity and vulnerability of all individuals. It is a wonderful Broadway-quality musical (22 songs) about problems and solutions of homelessness and mental illness and substance abuse.

The play attempts to give a wide variety of audiences a better understanding of many of the issues surrounding chronic homelessness and dual diagnosis. It also attempts to introduce key programs that are successfully reintegrating people from the streets and shelters back into housing. The play attempts to break down myths and stereotypes which continue to act as significant barriers to full social integration for this population. It also attempts to show the dignity, vitality, generosity, and humanity of people who experience homelessness. The play attempts to depict the diligent and noble efforts of service providers who assist individuals experiencing homelessness. It further attempts to invoke introspection about how society treats and, ultimately, prioritizes the needs of individuals who are homeless. Above all, the play has an intended social justice message that everyone is complicit in the problem of homelessness and everyone must be part of the solution.

Auditions will be held:
Thursday, Sept 10th at 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Saturday, Sept 12th at 12 noon to 2 pm
