THE 'GOOD TIMES' OF IBIZA Invades The Vegas Strip, Four Days After The 'Fight Of The Century'

By: May. 15, 2015

The much ballyhooed "Fight of the Century" May 2 between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao may have been a letdown, but Las Vegas got its groove back a few days later with an infusion of the intensely grooving Electronic Dance Music (EDM) of Ibiza via the official U.S. label launch May 6 of Pacific Electronic Music (PEM) (www.pacificelectronicmusic.com) at the world famous Light Nightclub, Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino's premiere hotspot turned on by Cirque Du Soleil.

As recapped by Robin Leach of the Las Vegas Sun, the highly-anticipated event, branded "Good Times" after the 1979 disco classic by CHIC, marked the first ever U.S. performance by The Aristofreeks: the red hot Ibiza-based DJ, Producer and Remix duo of DMC Mixing Championship Finalist Max Martire and Dutch Producer Shanti Matkin. The two sonic masters, who joined forces in 2014 to re-inject disco into modern house music, entertained the packed house.

The crowd was later delighted with a surprise visit from PEM signee, Next Step, the former lead singers of the multi-platinum selling group, Chic. The trio of Norma Jean Wright, Alfa Anderson and Luci Martin supplied smokin' hot vocals that enhanced the visual artistry of Cirque Du Soleil. Next Step's performance was choreographed by famed choreographer Laurieann Gibson, who designed the footwork for a Lady Gaga tour and once had her own show on E! Gibson was also an attendee of the exclusive pre-party event.

Pacific Electronic Music (PEM) music company was formed by legendary record industry executive Jerry Greenberg with Martire. PEM's first signing was Kathy Sledge, lead singer of disco legends Sister Sledge, who released the label's debut single "Keep It Movin'."

After releasing Aristrofreeks remixes of Chic classics "Le Freak" and "Good Times," Next Step is set to drop its first original single "Get On Up." The Light event doubles as a release party for the infectious new track.

At one time the youngest president of any major record company - he was 32 when he became president of Atlantic Records in 1974 - Greenberg signed everyone from ABBA, Foreigner and Genesis to Chic, Dr. Dre & Easy E, Foreigner, J. Geils Band and The Blues Brothers. Among his many other executive positions was President of MJJ Music, Michael Jackson's label distributed through Sony, from 1993 to 2000. He also worked with The Rolling Stones, Bee Gees, AC/DC, Bad Company, Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin.
