Majestic Rep presents Steamy CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF ImageMajestic Repertory Theatre presents Tennessee Williams's 1955 Pulitzer Prize- winning family drama CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF.

The truth hurts. On a steamy night in Mississippi, a Southern family gathers at their cotton plantation to celebrate Big Daddy's birthday. The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. With the future of the family at stake, which version of the truth is real - and which will win out?

"'Cat' has always been Williams's most scandalous play," says Artistic Director Troy Heard. "When it was released in the mid-50s, Brick's veiled homosexuality was such a trigger it was completely excised when they made the first film adaptation. It's had more Broadway revivals than any of his other works and obviously holds up today. We're approaching it as though the script were handed to us just yesterday and finding immediate character motivations that make it feel like prestige TV drama. It's another chance to visit the American canon fresh."

CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF continues Majestic Rep's "revolutionary" second season, which focuses on hot topics effecting today's America, following the fiftieth anniversary production of HAIR: THE AMERICAN TRIBAL LOVE-ROCK MUSICAL and the thrilling AN OCTOROON. Other shows in the season include ANIMAL FARM, MARIE ANTOINETTE and the sci-fi world premiere SENTIENCE.

Performances of CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF will be January 11th through January 28th, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. Majestic Repertory Theatre performs at 1217 S. Main Street. General admission tickets are $25 and are on sale now at www.majesticrepertory.com. Call 702-423-6366 for details.
