Goldberg, Cosby, Engvall, Sinbad to be Featured at Treasure Island

Four big-name comedians, Sinbad, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Cosby and Bill Engvall, will end the year with laughter at the Treasure Island Theatre.

Sinbad, best known for his various television and movie appearances in the 1980s and 1990s, including several HBO comedy specials, is making a return appearance at Treasure Island. He recently returned to the small screen as a cast member of "The Celebrity Apprentice." Sinbad began his career as a contestant on "Star Search," appearing seven times. He spent four years on the television show "A Different World" and starred in his own series "The Sinbad Show." Sinbad made his film debut in "Necessary Roughness" and also had leading roles in "Jingle All the Way," "Houseguest" and "First Kid."  

Whoopi Goldberg, who has been gracing audiences since the age of eight, will make her debut at the Treasure Island Theatre.  Her on-stage career led to Broadway in a self-titled show.  During the run, Goldberg grabbed the attention of Steven Spielberg who cast her in "The Color Purple," her first big screen role.  She has starred in many other films, including "Ghost," which earned her an Academy Award.  Goldberg has also appeared in a variety of television programs and has even hosted the Academy Awards.  She currently serves as moderator of "The View" and is making guest appearances in the musical "Sister Act," a show she also produces, in London.  Goldberg stays true to her stand-up roots and uses her celebrity to help good causes, including multiple appearances on "Comic Relief," a series of televised benefits for America's homeless.

 Iconic funny man Bill Cosby, who has been making audiences laugh for decades with his keen insight into everyday existence, will return to the Treasure Island Theatre stage. Known the world over for "The Cosby Show," which ran from 1984 to 1992 on NBC, Cosby broke racial barriers and sent a powerful message to viewers - that the family unit and raising children matters most. The top-rated show, which many credited for single-handedly resurrecting the television sitcom, earned six Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes and 10 People's Choice Awards.  Cosby also won the 2009 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor from The Kennedy Center.

 What began as a shot in the dark at a Texas nightclub quickly launched funnyman Bill Engvall to comedic superstardom. The Galveston native originally aspired to be a teacher when he discovered his gift for making people laugh. Bill Engvall currently stars in and serves as executive producer for "The Bill Engvall Show" on TBS.  He also hosts one of the top-rated shows on CMT, "Country Fried Home Videos." Engvall also performed in the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour" which was turned into a movie.  He has written several books including his autobiography, "Bill Engvall - Just A Guy."  Treasure Island is proud to welcome him back.
