The Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting that "Folies Bergere," the longest-running show on the Strip and one that helped make feathered showgirls the image of Las Vegas, will close March 28 after 49 years.

"Folies," along with Bally's "Jubilee!," is one of the last "in-house" productions, in which cast and crew are direct employees of the casino.

The website for the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas descrives the show as "Critics agree. When you think classic Las Vegas entertainment, you immediately picture the glamorous Folies Bergere. The timeless musical extravaganza embodies the very essence of sexy, classic Las Vegas entertainment. Folies Bergere has everything a great Las Vegas entertainment show should have - fabulous singing & dancing, gorgeous Las Vegas showgirls in barely-there costumes, dazzling scenery, hilarious comedy and sheer spectacle! No wonder Folies thrills some 40,000 fans a month! The ever-changing and growing production is a true Las Vegas entertainment legend. From the original award-winning Can-Can to the steamy new Latin Mambo numbers, Folies Bergere takes the traditional French-style revue to intoxicating new heights of excitement. If you haven't experienced Folies lately, you just haven't experienced Las Vegas. See the show that started it all - and be a part of Las Vegas entertainment history!"
