98.5 KLUC Love Affair Brings Legendary R&B Acts to the Orleans Arena

Celebrated rhythm and blues, soul and funk acts from the 60s, 70s and 80s, will perform the hits as part of the 6th Annual 98.5 KLUC Love Affair at the Orleans Arena on Saturday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Performing at the event this year are Rose Royce; The Delfonics; Deniece Williams; Bloodstone; The Persuaders; Tierra; Sly, Slick and Wicked; and Barbara Lewis.Rose Royce is perhaps best known for their multiple hits from the Carwash soundtrack, including the title track which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B charts in 1976. Other hits associated with the multi-platinum selling group include "I'm Going Down," "Love Don't Live Here Anymore," and "Wishing On A Star."Soul staple The Delfonics' noted top-10 hits include "La-La (Means I Love You)" and "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)," as well as "Hey! Love," "Break Your Promise," "Ready Or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide From Love)," and a cover of Burt Bacharach's "Alfie."Deniece Williams began her career in music as a back up singer to Stevie Wonder, but quickly stepped into her own spotlight to become a multiple Grammy Award® winner and chart-topping singer. Williams is known for hits such as "Let's Hear It For The Boy" from the Footloose soundtrack, "It's Gonna Take A Miracle," "Silly" and "Free," along with several duets with Johnny Mathis, including the No. 1 smash, "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late."The Persuaders are best known for their 1971 hit song "Thin Line Between Love And Hate," but are also known for songs they originated that became popular when other artists covered them, including "Some Guys Have All The Luck" (covered by Robert Palmer and Rod Stewart) and "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" (covered by Gladys Knight & The Pips).
Tierra, a popular Latin R&B group, reached success in 1980 with the hit song "Together" and is also known for songs "Gonna Find Her," "Memories," and "Zoot Suit Boogie." The group has recorded regularly since their first release in 1973.
