Today, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts announced two new performances in the Kauffman Center Presents series. Comedy-magic duo Penn & Teller will close out the 2017-2018 Kauffman Center Presents season on June 22. Country musicians Lee Greenwood and Dailey & Vincent will open the 2018-2019 series with a double-headliner concert on July 1.

The MTH Theater at Crown Center has announced casting for its next Musical Monday and Tuesday, scheduled April 16 and 17 at Crown Center. The performance will feature the music of motion, from Broadway and beyond. Tunes from Broadway musicals like THE WIZ, DREAMGIRLS, and MOTOWN THE MUSICAL will be accompanied by songs made famous by Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross and others. The ensemble features Asa Barnes, Lexi Brie, Shon Ruffin, Anthony Saunders, Emily Shackelford, and Shelby Winfrey. The show will be hosted by Ron Lackey, founder of Kansas City's popular Motown/Funk band 2Proud 2Beg.
THE MASCOT Set for World Premiere at Living Room Theatre

Agile Rabbit Productions has announced casting and creatives for the world premiere original new comedy, THE MASCOT. Written by Jerry Hickey, the production is helmed by esteemed director (and KU professor) Peter Zazalli. Kansas City favorite Sam Cordes assumes the title role and is joined by Emma Carter, Coleman Crenshaw, Jen Mays, Matt Rapport, and Hollis Wilhoit, along with Alisa Lynn, Jake Gillespie, and Matthew Michael. The play will also feature an original score composed by Jon Robertson.

Six-hundred-fifty hopefuls auditioned for the 49th annual five-production 'Theatre In The Park' outdoor season. The 2018 season features, 'The Little Mermaid' June 8-16, 'South Pacific' June 22-30, 'Into the Woods' July 6-14, 'The Adams Family' July 20-28, and 'High School Musical August 3-11. A combined cast of over two hundred community actors, singers, and dancers will perform plus an expanded number of volunteers, musicians, creative staff, set builders, and administrative personnel.

Theatre in the Park INDOORS opens its 2018 season with the blockbuster musical AVENUE Q in performance March 9-25* at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center in Overland Park. Described as Sesame Street on steroids, AVENUE Q is a laugh-out-loud musical dealing with coming of age issues in an R-rated manner- it is not appropriate for families. While addressing humorous adult issues, AVENUE Q is like a beloved children's show where puppets are friends, monsters are good and life lessons are learned.
