New Musician Showcase To Be Held At LPAT 7/11
The New Musician Showcase is coming to Liberty Performing Arts Theatre Saturday, July 11 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm. The Showcase, now in its 6th year, is a collection of performances by developing musical acts from the Kansas City area. The acts often represent a wide variety of music genres - from classical to rock to pop to acapella to alternative - but the acts are not separated by style. Rather, the focus is on musicianship. The primary purpose of the Showcase is to provide musicians with the opportunity to perform before a live audience and to gain practical auditioning and concert production experience.
Before appearing on the Showcase, acts must successfully pass a demo audition, held a few weeks before the Showcase. Acts are selected based on their overall musical ability. The name of each selected act will be posted about two weeks before the Showcase.
At the end of each Session of the Showcase, a modest cash prize is determined by audience applause volume. The Grand Prize winner, however, is determined by judges' scores. Showcase judges will assign a rating in each of eight categories, namely 1) Pitch; 2) Tempo; 3) Technical Ability; 4) Expressiveness; 5) Dynamics; 6) Balance; 7) Diversity; and 8) Stage Presence. The highest rated act wins the Grand Prize.
As the Grand Prize, the LPAT supplies the winning act with a full day in the Theatre, plus the essential services and equipment needed to produce their own full-scale live concert. It includes full sound system, lighting system and concert lighting design work, technicians, stage hands, ticket services, publicity support, and production support from our experienced staff. Total grand prize value from the LPAT is approximately $1,400.00. Plus, all ticket revenue generated from the concert will be given to the winning act.
For tickets, call 816-439-4362 to order by phone. Tickets range from $5 to $8.
