# Full-Time Technical Designer **Location:** Jersey City, NJ

**Employment Type:** Full-Time

**Salary:** $50,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience Tom Carroll Scenery is a custom fabrication shop specializing in theater and commercial work. We build unique, detail-driven scenery, props, and displays for Broadway, theater, museums, retail installations, trade shows, television, and live events. Our shop environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and deadline-oriented, with multiple projects moving simultaneously under tight lead times. We are seeking a **Technical Designer** to prepare submittal drawings and build plates for our carpentry crew while working closely with project management to ensure projects move efficiently from design through fabrication. **Reports To:** Project Management / Vice President ### Responsibilities * Prepare submittal drawings for client review and approval

* Create build plates and shop drawings for fabrication

* Coordinate with project managers and shop personnel throughout the production process

* Revise drawings as projects evolve

* Develop practical construction details for fabrication

* Assist in maintaining drawing accuracy and project documentation ### Qualifications * Proficiency in AutoCAD required

* Experience with scenic fabrication, exhibits, architectural millwork, or custom fabrication preferred

* Ability to read and interpret design drawings

* Strong organizational and communication skills

* Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred ### Benefits * Health insurance
