Pay: $30–$38 per hour, based on experience Tom Carroll Scenery is a custom fabrication shop specializing in theater and commercial work. We build unique, detail-driven scenery, props, and displays across a wide range of materials and specifications. Our shop environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and deadline-oriented, with multiple projects moving simultaneously under tight lead times. We are seeking an experienced Master Carpenter to lead scenic fabrication projects from shop drawings through final assembly. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in scenic carpentry and fabrication and able to manage crews efficiently while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship, safety, and organization. Reports to: Vice President / Project Management Qualifications and Responsibilities
Ability to read drawings and execute builds of varying complexity
Leadership experience managing crews of approximately three to eight carpenters
Strong communication skills when working with project managers regarding forecasting, scheduling, deadlines, and production needs
Strong knowledge of theatrical fabrication techniques and terminology
Ability to organize daily workflow and assign tasks to carpentry crews
Ability to maintain high standards of craftsmanship, accuracy, efficiency, and safety
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and standard shop machinery
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple active projects
Availability to work select nights and weekends when required by production deadlines
