Position: Lead Songwriter / Composer
Project: Chameleon (Original Musical)
Trajectory: Orange County production leading to potential Off-Broadway Development
Reports To: Lead Producer (Benny Lumpkins Jr.) and Creative Team
Project Summary
Chameleon is an original musical currently moving rapidly toward an Off-Broadway production. Following a successful reading, we are solidifying our core creative team to prepare the show for its next phase. We are seeking a versatile, collaborative songwriter to help shape, expand, and refine the musical score.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborative Score Development: Review the current draft of the libretto alongside the creative team.
* Songwriting & Revision: Tweak and refine existing musical numbers based on structural feedback, and write new songs to round out the score.
* Creative Partnership: Work closely with the book writer and producer to ensure the music drives the character arcs and narrative forward.
* Development Process: Participate in collaborative writing sessions and subsequent developmental workshops leading up to production.
Compensation & Terms
* Pay Range: $700- $1,000 per song, structured as a commission/stipend for the development and writing phase, with standard backend participation/royalties for the future Off-Broadway run.
* Contract Type: Independent Contractor / Work-for-Hire with standard theatrical subsidiary rights and authorship agreements.
Ideal Candidate
* Demonstrated experience composing for musical theater, film, or narrative audio.
* A strong melodic sense and the ability to write character-driven, emotionally resonant songs.
* A collaborative spirit who welcomes notes, structural tweaks, and creative brainstorming.
