Theatre Prometheus seeks to hire several creative and design roles for their Fall 2026 production of Where Dead Women Go to Dance, a world premiere by Stephen Spotswood and directed by Lauren Patton Villegas.
Ideal candidates will be organized, detail oriented, collaborative, and deadline conscious.
Summary: When Kim uses one of her grandmother’s old witchy recipes to bring her best friend Ellen back from the dead, the two are forced to grapple with their past and future. Their unique situation leads to both comedic and thoughtful musings on their lives and what happens when things don’t go exactly as planned.
Content Warnings: Discussions of suicide and internalized transphobia. Blood effects will be used on stage.
Load-in, build, tech, and performances will take place at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center, located at 7995 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910. The production schedule is as follows*:
We are looking for people who can start immediately!
Rehearsals Begin: Week of July 27th, weeknights and weekends
Load In: September 9th-11th**
Tech Begins: September 12th**
Opening: September 25th
Closing: October 17th
Strike: October 18th *exact schedule is subject to some minor changes prior to offer
**please note that we no longer practice 10 out of 12s The commitment for this position is part-time, with availability preferred in each listing. Meetings will usually take place in the evenings. A larger commitment is needed during key points in the process such as load-in and tech. Support our prop designer in coordinating with local theater companies who lend us items.
Pull items from stock and make purchases for productions
Support in prop builds as requested.
Because we are pulling from local theatres, some hours available during the regular workday are preferred. Tech availability is only needed for work notes. No need to be there the whole time.
This role can be combined with the Run Crew position depending on experience and availability. Run Crew - Stipend $300
We are looking for one person to support our stage management team backstage during the performance run.
Help preset/strike props and costumes backstage.
Have a track backstage during the show.
This role can be combined with the Assistant Prop Designer position depending on experience and availability. Co-Technical Directors - Stipend $500 Each
Based on availability and experience.
We are looking for two people who can build our set at Montgomery College.
Coordinate with Scenic Designer to problem-solve.
Manage the scenic budget to use the given materials effectively.
Scenic Charge experience is preferred for one of these roles.
Availability can be flexible, with full availability needed for Load In. Tech availability is only needed for work notes. No need to be there the whole time. Fight/Intimacy Consultant - Stipend $100
Provide insight on safe body dragging practices
Choreograph one intimacy moment
We will need about 3.5 hours total of your time during a rehearsal or two.
