SUMMARY:
When Kim uses one of her grandmother’s old witchy recipes to bring her best friend Ellen back from the dead, the two are forced to grapple with their past and future. Their unique situation leads to both comedic and thoughtful musings on their lives and what happens when things don’t go exactly as planned.
CONTENT WARNINGS:
Discussions of suicide and internalized transphobia. Blood effects will be used on stage.
CHARACTERS:
Kim – trans woman; 20s+ (age flexible); any ethnicity. Grew up as the granddaughter of an old witchy woman and has begun dabbling with such witchiness herself in a “cottage core semi-sexy librarian” sort of way. Has settled into comfortability with herself and her life, but her struggles with her identity growing up have left their mark.
Ellen – cis woman*; 20s+ (age flexible, of an age with Kim); any ethnicity. Has grunge and punk tendencies, spends the play grappling with her life (and death) as well as her friendship with Kim.
*Note that Theatre Prometheus is open to submissions for this role from non-binary or gender non-conforming performers who are comfortable being referred to in character with she/her pronouns
