Theatre Prometheus seeks to hire several creative and design roles for their Fall 2026 production of Where Dead Women Go to Dance, a world premiere by Stephen Spotswood and directed by Lauren Patton Villegas. All positions are paid equally. The stipend for each position is $500.
Ideal candidates will be organized, detail oriented, collaborative, and deadline conscious.
Summary: When Kim uses one of her grandmother’s old witchy recipes to bring her best friend Ellen back from the dead, the two are forced to grapple with their past and future. Their unique situation leads to both comedic and thoughtful musings on their lives and what happens when things don’t go exactly as planned.
Content Warnings: Discussions of suicide and internalized transphobia. Blood effects will be used on stage.
Rehearsals and performances will take place at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center, located at 7995 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910. The production schedule is as follows*:
June: Casting
Rehearsals Begin: Week of July 27th, weeknights and weekends
Load In: September 9th-11th (Flexible over weekend)**
Tech Begins: September 12th**
Opening: September 25th
Closing: October 17th
Strike: October 18th
*exact schedule is subject to some minor changes prior to offer

The commitment for this position is part-time, with rehearsals and meetings generally taking place in the evenings and on weekends. A larger commitment will be needed closer to the performance and especially during tech.

We are hiring for the following roles:
Production Manager
Ensure that all production roles are filled, managing search and outreach for designers/production staff
Create a production calendar and ensure all internal and external deadlines are met
Track and manage the budget, alerting Theatre Prometheus administrative staff of any potential issues
Coordinate with designers and artistic staff to ensure all production needs are being met
Manage the logistical aspects of the production, including facilitating load-in, load-out, and tech
Serve as the primary point of contact between the production team and the administrative staff
Organize and run production meetings
Costume Designer
Responsible for developing designs in a collaborative process with the artistic team that falls within budget, timeline, and other resource parameters
Providing design packages by deadlines to industry leading standards
Work to integrate discoveries made during rehearsals (to the extent that budget and time allow) and notes throughout the process until the show opens.
***Experience in SFX make up strongly desired
Lighting Designer
Responsible for developing designs in a collaborative process with the artistic team that falls within budget, timeline, and other resource parameters

Set/Props Designer
