STAGE MANAGER OVERVIEW

Fever is seeking an experienced Philadelphia-based Stage Manager to join the East Coast tour of Neon Moves by THE BLACKOUTS. Neon Moves is a 60-minute LED dance show performed entirely in the dark. This production will rehearse in December, with a touring run based out of Philadelphia running through January to mid March. The Stage Manager will be expected to travel by vehicle to all show dates across the East Coast, working closely alongside the Technical Director as well as the Show Producer. The Stage Manager and Technical Director will be responsible for the transportation of all costume and scenic elements from Philadelphia storage to each show via vehicle, and will also be responsible for returning all items to storage after the show.



As the Show Producer will not be onsite, the Stage Manager, along with the Technical Director, will hold both the organizational responsibility for the backstage operation and the overall technical responsibility for the production. This responsibility is including but not limited to looking after the performers, preparing the LED suits, props and technical components, and operating and monitoring all technical systems – so every show runs safely, stably and to the highest quality.



STAGE MANAGER ROLE OVERVIEW:

– Focus: Backstage, workflow, timing, and safety

– Position: Backstage and/or FOH

– Key Domains: Stage, props, LED suits, performers

– Experience: Theatre / event / touring, stage management

– Technical skills: Confident with all show equipment

– Leads: Backstage team and venue

– Communication: Constant contact with FOH



DATES/AVAILABILITY

– Rehearsals - Mid through late December

– Performances - All weekends (and some Thursdays/Mondays) from January 7th - March 16th





RESPONSIBILITIES BY PHASE

Preparation & Setup

– Stage set per plan; LED suits, props and equipment checked and ready

– In collaboration with the TD: Technical infrastructure, audio, video, network and LED systems set up, commissioned and tested per Technical Rider



During the Show

– Backstage area, running order, OSC connection, and props under control

– Performers supported; issues resolved quickly and discreetly

– Constant communication between front of house and backstage



After the Show

– Teardown coordinated; props and materials checked, packed and loaded

– Technical components checked, maintained and documented

– Complete, clean show kit ready for the next production



Maintenance & Care

– Show equipment and batteries checked, cleaned and kept ready after each use

– Defects, maintenance and irregularities documented



Requirements

– Experience in theatre, event or touring productions; ideally in stage management

– Strong grasp of stage, lighting, audio, video, network and event technology; confident working knowledge of show equipment

– Good computer skills (macOS) and working knowledge show-control systems (e.g. QLab), ideally OSC

– Thorough understanding of the Technical Rider and full show sequence

– Calm, precise and reliable under pressure and in complete darkness

– Structured, organised and detail-oriented

– Strong communicator; close collaboration with performers and venue team

– Strong problem-solving and quick decisions in live situations

– Strong safety awareness – people, stage and equipment

– Physically resilient; willing to tour nationally

– Genuine enthusiasm for the work and live productions

– Leads: Technical control and monitoring

– Performers supported; issues resolved quickly and discreetly

– Constant communication between front of house and backstage



After the Show

– Teardown coordinated; props and materials checked, packed and loaded

– Technical components checked, maintained and documented

– Complete, clean show kit ready for the next production

– Transport production materials back to Philadelphia and place them back in storage



Maintenance & Care

– Show equipment and batteries checked, cleaned and kept ready after each use

– Defects, maintenance and irregularities documented



Requirements

– Experience in theatre, event or touring productions as a show/stage technician; ideally in engineering

– Valid driver’s license and demonstrated comfort driving a cargo van or small U-Haul; drives will be no more than five hours per show

- Expert grasp of stage, lighting, audio, video, network and event technology; strong knowledge of show equipment

– Good computer skills (macOS) and proficiency with show-control systems (e.g. QLab), ideally OSC

– Thorough understanding of the Technical Rider and full show sequence

– Calm, precise and reliable under pressure and in complete darkness

– Structured, organised and detail-oriented

– Strong communicator; close collaboration with performers and venue team
