Teaching Artist - Raue Center School For The Arts

Summary of Position

Teaching Artists will work closely with the Raue Center Education Team to imagine, realize, coordinate, and implement the summer camp program. Teaching Artists will gain work experience in arts education by directly working with children every day.

The summer consists of multiple programs for children ages 5 through 18. RCSA will be running a children’s summer camp, an intensive musical theatre workshop for the older students and putting on two productions of Seussical with kids ranging from second grade to senior year of

high school.

Below is the list of job duties, but it is not exhaustive.

Primary Responsibilities:

● Assist and provide support to the lead counselors in the classroom. Classes range in age and ability but all will include a form of storytelling, music, devising, theatre arts, and

dance.

● Prepare and reset rooms for programming

● Lead games, activities, and crafts during camp

● Assist with transitions and lunchtime

● Depending on other skills, teaching artists who are interested may be asked to help choreograph, write or direct the students under the team's guidance. There are also opportunities available for those interested in production and stage management of children’s shows.

● Assist with camper check-ins and check-outs daily.

● Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Activities:

● We are seeking candidates 17 and up that have a passion for working with children.

Candidates with teaching experience and arts education experience will be prioritized for this position. The hired candidate will be trained and assisted by teachers and staff members at Raue Center for the Arts.
