Signature Theatre, one of New York's leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a Seasonal Associate Production Manager at The Pershing Square Signature Center on West 42nd Street.

Signature Theatre is an artistic home for storytellers. By producing several plays from each Resident Writer, Signature offers a deep dive into their bodies of work. Founded in 1991 by James Houghton, Signature Theatre is now led by Artistic Director Paige Evans and Executive Director Timothy J. McClimon. Signature serves its mission by hosting our distinctive playwright residencies at our permanent home at The Pershing Square Signature Center, a three-theatre facility on West 42nd Street designed by Frank Gehry Architects. The Center supports and encourages collaboration among artists, cultural organizations, and local communities by providing free, public access throughout the space. In addition to its three intimate theatres, the Center features a studio theatre, a rehearsal studio and a public café and bar. Position Summary

Signature Theatre Company is seeking candidates for the position of Seasonal Associate Production Manager to join its Production Team. The Associate Production Manager is an integral member of the Production Team. In conjunction with the Production Manager, you will collaborate with designers and production staff to support and facilitate the execution for the productions in our 2023-24 Season. The work schedule varies, often including evening and weekend hours. This is a seasonal salaried exempt position, reporting to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



Collaborate with the Production Manager on the planning and implementation of all production and technical elements of each production with a keen eye on fiscal responsibility.



Assist the Production Manager in creating production calendars, contracts, budgets, and other production paperwork.



Assist with all production office responsibilities, including purchasing and helping with returns, expense and budget tracking, and petty cash and credit card reconciliations.



Attend and participate in design presentations, production meetings, rehearsals and run-throughs as designated by the Production Manager, and monthly all-staff meetings.



Cover tech rehearsals and facilitate work calls in Production Manager’s absence.



Respond to notes rehearsal and show reports in a timely manner and support ongoing maintenance throughout the run of each production in conjunction with the Production Manager, the supervisors, stage management and the run crew.



Maintain clear communication within the production department to ensure efficient and successful implementation of design and technical elements of each production.

Preferred Skills and Experience



Two or more years of experience working in a managerial position in the theatre industry with a strong background in stage management or production management, or in a related position with equivalent experience.



Knowledge and understanding of the design and production process.



Ability to understand and convey technical information to a non-technical audience.



Proven supervisory and leadership skills.



Strong verbal and written communication skills.



Excellent organizational and time management skills with budgeting experience.



Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.



Possess a positive attitude and is self-motivated.



Excellent interpersonal skills with an interest and willingness to collaborate and support designers and fellow team members.



Interested and committed in advocating and building an equitable and inclusive community.



Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks.



A valid driver’s license is a plus but not a requirement.

Compensation

This is a seasonal exempt position with a salary of $1,320 per week. An excellent benefit package includes medical, dental, vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid sick time, personal days, transit benefit program, and employee assistance program. The seasonal contract starts Jan 2, 2024, and ends June 2, 2024. Prior to Jan 2, some prep time will be required.
