Lead Production Carpenter - Pace University

The university also has one of the most competitive performing arts programs in the country and is seeking a Lead Production Carpenter at our lower Manhattan campus.



In this key position at the Pace School of Performing Arts (PPA), you will work in the scenic shop and theatrical facilities of PPA, supporting production and classroom needs. Duties include assisting the Production Supervisor in the planning and overseeing of all technical (design and production) aspects of the PPA Mainstage Productions and student events and productions.



Specific Responsibilities:



• Responsible for the scenic and props construction of PPA Mainstage Productions, as well as the supervision and maintenance of the scene and paint shops, and PPA theatrical facilities.

• Produce necessary working drawings for construction and have an accurate development and interpretation of working drawings, planning and facilitating, carpentry, welding, and tool maintenance.

• Assist in integrating all scenery, lighting, and sound elements, maintain accurate technical drawings, specifications, and equipment/inventory lists for all PPA theatrical facilities as well as preparing, planning, budgeting, drafting, and purchasing materials for the Mainstage Productions.

• Develop and maintain the build schedule, production calendar, and purchase necessary supplies and assist with rentals of the PPA theatrical facilities and prepare the academic spaces for each semester.



Position Qualifications:



• MFA and 2-3 years of experience in Theatre Production; BA/BFA and 5 years of experience may be considered.

• Experience in set and prop construction, lighting, sound, rigging, welding, and digital media, and CAD drafting. Lighting and sound experience is a plus.

• Experience supervising students in a work environment along with strong organizational, interpersonal, supervisory, and leadership skills.

• Valid NY Driver’s License, ability to drive a 14’ box truck, and cargo van are preferred. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb up and down ladders, and able to work on their feet for extended periods of time.

• Weekends and evenings as necessary
