Dramaturgy and Casting Apprentice

This position works closely with the Dramaturg & Literary Manager and the Associate Artistic Director in charge of casting on a broad range of projects and initiatives in the Artistic Department.

Duties may include:

• Evaluating and responding to script submissions

• Conducting dramaturgical research for main stage productions

• Creating a variety of published materials (including season playbill articles)

• Leading talkbacks and other audience engagement events

• Providing administrative support for public programming

• Providing administrative support for local and national casting efforts

Applicants should have:

• Strong background in dramatic literature

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Attention to detail

• Comfort speaking in public

• Interest in the American regional theatre.

A Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in dramaturgy, theatre education, or similar applicable experience is highly recommended.

Stipend: $400 per week.

• Shared company housing inclusive of private bedroom, internet, and basic utilities is available to rent for $200 per week.

Apprentice Schedule: Average of 40 hrs/week

Length of Apprenticeship: September 1, 2021 – May 30, 2022
