Development Manager

6 month contract // $20 per hour, 10 hours per week.



The SuperGeographics are hiring a part time Development Manager to join our team. We’re excited to welcome someone dedicated to supporting international collaborations who is interested in ensemble theatre work and looking for an opportunity to grow with an emerging company.

It is the mission of The SuperGeographics to create bold new works which build equitable relationships between traditionally dominant and pervasively marginalized cultures & bodies. These plays exchange images and ideas, challenge form, and prioritize the highly athletic, textually bold, and intellectually rigorous. This work supports our ensemble & guest artists across international borders. The company is based across the US, UK, Chile, Sweden, Australia, and Mexico with ongoing collaborations in India and Nepal. Summary

The Development Manager will work to build and execute the development plan to further the mission and success of The SuperGeographic Ensemble Theatre. This will include identifying and soliciting viable granting organizations, donors, sponsors and partners in support of the ensemble’s programming. The Development Manager will write and manage the relevant funding applications in collaboration with The SuperGeographics’ staff and ensemble.

While we prefer to work in person, the ensemble is spread across the globe, so we meet regularly via Zoom. Employees will be required to join weekly staff meetings, and you are warmly invited to join our regular ensemble meetings. All who join our meetings are encouraged to take equal part in our company process by adding their voice to the conversation, regardless of staff or ensemble position.

Responsibilities

Development

- Create and implement comprehensive annual fundraising plan with Company Director & Artistic Director

- In collaboration with the staff, develop and submit funding proposals to State and Federal agencies, private foundations and institutions.

- Assist in a range of fundraising and promotional events, including planning, logistics and on-the-day support

- Work closely with the ensemble and staff to create and share engaging donor communications

e.g. e-newsletters, campaign material, web content, social media messaging, thanking/acknowledgement of donors, etc.

- Conduct internal reviews of awarded funding and communicates findings to staff and the Board, as needed.

- Where relevant, assist in the preparation of tax documentation with the Company Director

Strategic Planning

- Undertake research on prospective trust and foundations, corporate funders, and individual donors

- Identify revenue sources for new projects/productions

- Manage the donor database

Artistic Planning

- Engage and foster relationships between the company and granting/donor bodies.

- Identify revenue sources for new projects/productions



Needs

- A willingness to learn and adapt inside of a growing organization

- A comfortability working solo and in collaboration with others

- Ideally, a familiarity with institutional and State & Federal funding bodies within the United States and at least one other country, or a strong interest in acquiring this knowledge. A plus if you have an understanding of NYC specific funding bodies

- Access to a computer, internet, & video conferencing

- Strong proficiency with written English

- Familiarity with Spanish or other non-English language is would be an asset
