Box Office Ticket Agent (Seasonal)

Spoleto Festival USA is internationally recognized as America’s premier performing arts festival. For 17 days and nights each spring, Spoleto Festival USA fills Charleston’s historic theaters, churches, and outdoor spaces with performances in opera; theater; dance; and chamber, symphonic, choral, and jazz music. Spoleto Festival USA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Role Spoleto Festival USA is seeking Box Office Ticket Agents to be the friendly voices and faces of the 2027 Festival, running May 28 through June 13. By phone, by email, at the box office window, and at Festival venues, you’ll help patrons find the right performances and seats, solve ticketing questions with care, and make every patron feel welcome long before the curtain rises. These are seasonal, part-time roles from early January 2027 through mid-June 2027, with flexible hours that include evenings and weekends. Returning Ticket Agents may take on added responsibility as Lead Ticket Agents, serving as approachable, go-to mentors for new agents and apprentices. Position Type: Seasonal, part-time, hourly, and not benefit-eligible Location: Charleston, SC (onsite) Department: Box Office & Visitor Experience Reports to: Box Office & Visitor Experience Manager What You’ll Do - Bring warmth and energy to every call, email, and in-person conversation, and turn ticketing problems into great experiences.

- Be the warm, helpful voice that makes a great first and last impression, since you’re often the first, and sometimes the only, person a caller talks to at the Festival.

- Become a Festival program expert and help patrons choose performances and seats, including accessible and group seating.

- Process reservations, exchanges, and refunds accurately in Tessitura, working on a computer and taking calls on a headset with microphone in the call center.

- Run phone and email campaigns that build relationships and promote performances, events, and merchandise.

- Support the box office with merchandise fulfillment, brochure requests, and equipment upkeep.

- Work onsite box offices and will call at Festival venues, and at community and promotional event pop-ups as scheduled.

- As a Lead Ticket Agent (returning agents), mentor new agents and apprentices, be the approachable person peers turn to with questions, help train the team, and lead agent shifts onsite. - Customer service experience in a high-volume retail, service, or hospitality setting.

- Strong organization, attention to detail, and a calm approach under pressure.

- A warm, friendly, helpful phone voice and clear communication skills.

- Comfort working on a computer, a multi-line phone system, and a headset with microphone, and learning new software.

- Experience with Tessitura or other ticketing software is a plus.

- Prior Spoleto Festival USA experience is a plus, but not required. Good to Know - Seasonal from early January 2027 through mid-June 2027, typically 20 to 32 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and no more than 129 hours per month.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; this employer participates in E-Verify.

- Must be able to pass a background check.

- Requires computer and phone work with a headset and microphone in the call center, standing at venue box offices, working in low light and outdoors, and lifting up to 25 lbs. (up to 50 lbs. with assistance).

- Based on-site in Charleston, SC, at the box office, Festival venues, and event pop-ups. Compensation & Perks This position pays $16 per hour for new Ticket Agents and $17 per hour for returning Ticket Agents serving as Lead Ticket Agents. As a seasonal role, it is not benefit-eligible, and it includes complimentary admission for you and a guest to select Festival performances and events.
