Position: Raue Center School For The Arts – Costume Designer

Hours: Varies based on availability

Stipend: $1000

Important Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat dates:

Auditions: Week of January 5th - 8th

Rehearsals: Begin the week of January 12th - February 20th

3 - 4 nights a week with 1 day possibly Sunday. Tentatively 6 - 9 PM

Tech: Sunday, February 22nd - Thursday, February 26th

Shows: (2 weekends)

February 27 @ 8 PM

February 28 @ 2 PM & 7 PM

March 1 @ 2 PM

March 6 @ 8 PM

March 7 @ 2 PM & 7 PM

March 8 @ 2 PM

Raue Center School For The Arts (RCSA) is thrilled to be launching its next production and is

looking for a skilled, self- motivated costume designer to join our team for the RCSA Production

of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Production. A potential costume designer

should be a self-starter and an excellent collaborator with the creative team members.

The Costume Designer, with the assistance of a parent support committee, will oversee

costumes, hair, and makeup for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Production. Job

overview includes the following:

Costume Designer Responsibilities:

● Costume Designer will work on the production creating their own schedule and

work times. This is flexible.

● Oversee costumes, hair, and makeup with the assistance of a support committee

for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Production.

● Collaborate closely with the director to create, brainstorm, and plot the overall

look and feel of the show.

● Research the specialized looks of the characters and match the overall theme of

the show.

● Demonstrate a solid understanding of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor

Dreamcoat Production to assist in creating a design based on the look/style of the

original but should not be necessarily copied. We would like the designer to create

their own feel and look of the show.

● Potentially plan/coordinate/negotiate the rental of a costume package.

● Assist student cast members in pulling looks together from students’ personal

wardrobe if needed.

● Supplement additional costumes by pulling from stock or purchasing when

necessary, working with a budget.

● Attend production meetings, dress parades, tech and dress rehearsals, and fittings.

● Act as the liaison between the director and stage manager if there are costume

ideas, specific look questions, costume measurement arrangements, costume

fitting arrangements, etc.

● Oversee the parent support committee, parents who will assist as directed with the

costume acquisition, alterations, and purchases.

● Oversee and plan out what sort of make-up and hair requirements there will be

along with the assistance of a support committee. The potential candidate will

also collaborate with the director on vision.

● All designers will need to participate in strike, immediately following the final

performance (Sunday, March 8th)

Start date: Is dependent on when first production meeting will be but could start as soon

as December 15, 2025
