Job Title: Community Engagement Associate

Job Classification: Non-exempt

Job Hours: Part-time, three eight-hour days per week, generally 10 am to 6 pm, but - some nights and weekends will be required

Job Overview: New York City Center's Education & Community Engagement team is growing to include a Community Engagement Associate, a part-time role that supports the expansion of City Center's community engagement programming. The Associate is expected to demonstrate an interest in collaboratively building community and belonging through educational arts programming, both in and around NYC and at City Center. They are responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of community programs, including coordinating workshop logistics, supporting on-site event management, and making community site visits. The Community Engagement Associate is expected to demonstrate a passion for community engagement and educational arts programming while supporting City Center's mission and our commitment to being an anti-racist organization.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate logistics for community programs including scheduling and attending planning meetings with community partners, setting teaching artist schedules, maintaining partner programming records, reserving studios, preparing supplementary materials, and other related program planning.

• Assist in the organization and implementation of on-site programming, including workshops, community nights, student matinees, professional developments & community days.

• Assist with tracking contracts, payment, and invoicing for community programs.

• Arrange ticketing for community events & invited dress rehearsals.

• Support development, design and creation of community-related publications including e-blasts, flyers, surveys, presentations, registration, newsletters, etc.

• Observe Programming and support Teaching Artist assessment through community site visits throughout the year.

• Other duties as reasonably assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Required Experience & Qualifications

• 1+ year of community engagement experience, preferably in an arts setting

• Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to support multiple projects and timelines at once.

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to communicate in English both in writing and verbally.

• Capacity to approach work with a spirit of creativity and collaboration.

• Must be able to get to locations outside of the office independently, without physical assistance.

• Capability to lift at least twenty pounds.

• Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g., copier, fax machine).

• Must have vision correctable to a level where an individual can operate a computer, visualize text on a computer monitor.

• Familiarity with a range of art forms, including dance and musical theater

• Familiarity with and comfort traveling throughout New York City five boroughs

• Interest in working with learners of all ages and abilities

• Experience with Tessitura is a plus,

• Ability to communicate in language(s) other than English both in writing and verbally., a plus

As a valued member of the City Center administrative team, you will receive:

• Wage of $20 per hour
