Avant-Prov Workshops for Musicians, Dancers, and Actors.

Stimulate your immediate creativity with avant-prov workshops.

Avant-prov is a performance style in which ensembles immediately devise shows resembling a hybrid  performance art installation, a modern music-dance concert, an improvisational comedy spectacle, and a Monty Python fever-dream.  
It’s a weird fun thing to do and see.  ART!

The workshop will include exercises and experimentation in scenic/comedic improvisational methods, improvisational movement and dance, and musical interaction.  We’ll reinforce and discover techniques for spontaneouscreation in each area, and then focus on how they interact.

We are especially eager to hear from artists from BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Differently Abled & other under-represented communities, as well as mulit-lingual artists.

Experience in improvisation is welcome but not necessary.

No cost to participants.


All levels and disciplines are welcome: Musicians, Dancers, Actors, other Performing Artists
Enrollment is limited.
Priority will be given to those available for consistent attendance.

Participants must show proof of vaccination, and we’ll work in masks until further notice.
