What We're Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an Assistant Costume Shop Manager to support the mission and vision of Baylor University within the Department of Theatre Arts. This position supports the costume shop by serving as part of the construction team during the 6 show season by serving as first hand. This position also works with Shop Manager to facilitate costume rentals and is in charge of maintaining stock spaces. The position supervises student stitchers and supports student wardrobe crews through tech and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience running wardrobe. Experience with hair and makeup a plus. We are a close-knit community and value self-motivation, a positive attitude, good humor, and courtesy.
A Bachelor's Degree and a and at least one year of relevant work experience is required. A Master's Degree in fine arts or related field and three years of relevant work experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of another.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What You Will Do
• Assist Costume Shop Manager with any assigned tasks
• Prepare show paperwork and procedure documents as directed
• Take measurements and complete alterations with minimal supervision
• Keep fitting notes sheets updated and be able to communicate progress and needs
• Manage stock as a rental facility for student director's class projects.
• Guide students in practical application of skills: pulling and restocking of costume pieces, Alterations of garments, shop projects, design realization, paperwork creation
• Responsible for getting costumes to and from dry cleaner
• Work with Shop Manager to train student wardrobe/maintenance crew members in duties and paperwork.
• Attend tech rehearsals to manage/teach student wardrobe team
• Maintain all costume spaces (Costume Shop, Costume Stocks, Dressing rooms, laundry room, and hair/makeup lab) with student assistance.
• Be on call for any weekend maintenance needs during show run
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
• Ability to comply with university policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $20.00 per hour.
The full salary range for this position classification is $17.22 - $28.41 per hour.
This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certification, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.
