Hoffmann can't write without alcohol. He can't live without his muse, even though she irritates him immensely. Because he doesn't want what he has – and he doesn't have what he wants. Hoffman takes rescue in blustering, narrating three unhappy stories about women. And when he does have one last chance with his unreachable love, Stella, he makes a mess of it. But there is one woman who could still be there for him: his muse…
