The School of Theatre is bringing the beloved classic A Chorus Line to the stage of the Fallon Theatre October 16-25. This nine-time Tony Award®-winning show delves into the dreams and fears of the characters, revealing what they have done and would do for love. A Chorus Line features a stunning book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, with music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban. Under the direction of MFA Directing Candidate Jenna Tamisiea, A Chorus Line is sure to delight audiences young and old.

It's a harrowing experience every hopeful dancer knows all too well - dancing and singing their hearts out for a spot in the chorus of a Broadway show. In an unconventional twist, a Broadway Director goes beyond the standard "5,6,7,8" and asks each dancer to reflect on the experiences that led them to the world of the stage. Poignant, touching, personal, humorous, and heart-wrenching, A Chorus Line delves into the dreams and fears of the dancers, revealing what they have done and would do for love.

The cast will be led by BFA Music Theatre students Lily Kaufmann (Cassie) and Kevin Nietzel (Zach). Also featured are Laura Plyler (Diana), Akilah Sailers (Shelia), and Taylor Sherry (Val). A Chorus Line features scenic design by Erin Kehr, costume design by MFA Costume Design candidate Rachel Buechele, and lighting design by Russell Sandifer.

Tamisiea and the production team have created a uniquely personal and authentic experience for the audience. Tamisiea describes the experience by saying, "I found out when preparing A Chorus Line why the show is still so popular with audiences today, 40 years after its premiere. Of course the production is iconic, but more than that, it is and has always been a story about following passion and the perseverance of the human spirit. As humans, we all have dreams. In this show, we can empathize with the 17 characters who are so desperately trying to fulfill theirs."

A Chorus Line originally opened at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway July 25, 1975 and was directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett. The musical received 12 Tony Award® nominations and won nine, in addition to winning the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The original Broadway production ran for 6,137 performances, becoming the longest-running production in Broadway history until surpassed by Cats in 1997.
