Tonight Emmy® Award winner Sally Struthers will star in the Alhambra’s performance of Broadway’s beloved and acclaimed, Hello, Dolly!  Ms. Struthers, who’s rise to acting fame began with the hit TV show, "All in the Family", is making her first appearance at the Alhambra and joins a growing list of stars that has recently included Jamie Farr, Barry Williams and Loretta Switt. Hello Dolly was first produced on Broadway in 1964, winning ten Tony® Awards, including Best Musical.

Just before the show during his opening remarks, Managing Partner, Craig Smith, will announce the winning selection of this seasons's summer family show.  For the first time ever, the Alhambra opened show selection to a fan vote that began on February 1.  Patrons and fans of the Alhambra were invited to vote online, on Facebook and at the Theatre.  Nearly 5,000 votes were cast among Once Upon a MattressJoseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Wizard of Oz.

About the Show

Hello, Dolly has become one of the most enduring musical theater hits, enjoying three Broadway revivals and international success. It was also made into a 1969 film that was nominated for seven Academy® Awards. The show's album Hello, Dolly! An Original Cast Recording was inducted into the Grammy® Hall of Fame in 2002.  Dolly Levi is a brassy widow with a knack for matchmaking.  She takes a trip to New York to meet a millionaire, Mr. Vandergelder whom has been courting another woman.  She fixes up his store clerks with the woman he had been courting with hopes of making a match with Mr. Vandergelder herself.

Inspired by the show’s setting, the menu for Hello Dolly will have a big city feel.  The plated meal includes a starter course choice of either Wild Mushroom Cappuccino Soup pr Panzenella Salad  (a bread and tomato salad with herb vinaigrette dressing).  The entrée choices include Pan Seared Flounder with Sweet Corn Succotash, Potato Dumplings and Smoked bacon, Brazilian style BBQ Beef With Scalloped Potatoes and Broccoli or Mojo-Marinated Chicken with Smoked Cheddar and Green Pea Risotto.  And for dessert, Chef DeJuan will continue his twist on the Alhambra’s famous Chocolate Mouse, as well as a choice of Buttermilk Pie or Crème Brulee.
