AIDA Runs This Week at Laurel Little Theater, August 1st-4th

The first stop of LLT's season AROUND THE WORLD is to the pyramids of Egypt in the story of the love of a boy and a girl from opposing tribes. It was first told in Verdi's famous opera that made Laurel's own Leontyne Price famous when she played the Princess Aida. Her recent children's book of the story was Sir Elton John's basis of his pop musical that features his hit song "Written In The Stars" that became a chart topper for Leanne Rimes.

His fun score mixes all kinds of music from pop, reggae and gospel with influences from Motown to Middle Eastern. The Broadway production won four Tony Awards including Best Musical Score, five National Theatre Awards including Best Musical and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.

Director Lacy Cockrell has a huge cast of 45 that stars Venita Apperwhite, Jay Baggett and Chataura Harper along with Rick Bennett, Sarah Rice, Wilson Rice, Robbie Robinson and Chase Rouse. The show runs the first weekend of August with performances at 7:30PM on August 1st-2nd-3rd and at 2PM on August 4th. The reservation line is now open and answers 24 hours a day at 601-428-0140. Box office opens 45 minutes before curtain and then the auditorium opens 30 minutes before the show begins.

PATRONS' GALA
August 3rd

LLT Patrons are invited to join in the lobby of the Arabian Theatre at 6 PM this Saturday evening, August 3rd, for a special hour of cocktails and hors d´oeuvres, and then will have the benefit of being the first to select seats for that evening´s performance of AIDA. They'll also enjoy watching the last minute sound checks and stage preparations. Patrons will still need to call 601-428-0140 to make a reservation for the August 3rd performance.

DRACULA
August 26th - 27th 7pm

Director Sam Buchanan needs a cast of a dozen men and women of all ages for our special Halloween Week Thriller DRACULA. No preparation necessary, just come down and read for the director from the script. Our shows rehearse three or four nights a week for about six-seven weeks. DRACULA will run October 31st & November 1st - 3rd.
