Extra Performance of MEDEA Announced Due to Unprecedented Demand

By: Jun. 20, 2017
As another indicator of the increasing success of Wexford Festival Opera, following its recent Best International Festival Award, it has decided, in another landmark development for the Festival, to add an additional performance to its existing schedule for the forthcoming 66th Festival.

Wexford's upcoming production of Luigi Cherubini's Medea has attracted intense public and media interest since it was announced earlier this year as the cornerstone production of the 2017 Festival. Huge excitement has been generated around the involvement in the project of acclaimed Irish actor and director Fiona Shaw and internationally renowned soprano Lise Davidsen in the title role. This has resulted in an unprecedented demand for tickets, with all four previously scheduled performances already completely booked out four months in advance of the Festival, which runs from 19 October to 5 November.

To satisfy this keen audience interest the Festival has decided to add to its already expanded 2017 Festival schedule by confirming an additional and fifth performance of Medea on Tuesday, 31 October at 8.00 p.m. in The National Opera House.

Tickets for this extra performance go on sale this Saturday, 24 June, from 9.30 a.m. and can be booked online 24/7 via www.wexfordopera.com or via the box office: Monday to Saturday 9.30 am to 5.30 pm: by phone: (053) 912 2400 or LoCall 1850 4OPERA, or in person at The National Opera House, High Street, Wexford.

The 66th Wexford Festival Opera is supported by grants from the Arts Council, Wexford County Council and Fáilte Ireland/Ireland's Ancient East.
