As Told By Productions, the company behind the acclaimed production of The Last Five Years at Greenwich Theatre as well as the European premiere of Ryan Scott Oliver's 35MM: A Musical Exhibition, have launched a new arm producing theatre for families.

As Told By Kids will debut with a new play, The Tale of the Dastardly Defrost by emerging writer Holly McKinlay, which will run at the Pleasance Courtyard throughout Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014. Holly is a member of the Royal Court Young Writers' Programme and her debut play, Fluids, was produced at the Pleasance, London and the King's Head Theatre, Islington. As well as writing, Holly frequently runs children's theatre workshops across London.

The Tale of the Dastardly Defrost will be directed by As Told By's Artistic Director, Katie Pesskin, who recently directed the company's production of The Last Five Years starring West End regulars Danielle Hope and Jon Robyns. She said that "the Edinburgh Fringe is such a fantastic way to expose children to theatre and feels like the perfect way to launch our new arm. We've developed this show with Holly and are really excited that it's going to be the inaugural production for As Told By Kids".

The Tale of the Dastardly Defrost runs at the Pleasance Kids Zone throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014 and is suitable for ages 3+. Casting is yet to be announced.
