Video: CBS Sunday Morning Spotlights New York's Professional Children's School

CBS Sunday Morning recently highlighted the Professional Children's School, a not-for-profit, college-preparatory school geared toward working and aspiring child actors and dancers in grades four through twelve. 

For more than 100 years, New York's Professional Children's School has provided an education for young people already engaged in careers in the arts or athletics. Their alumni include ballet star Tiler Peck, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and actors Rita Moreno, Scarlett Johannson, and Macaulay and Kieran Culkin.

In the segment, correspondent Mo Rocca talked to Peck; with Head of School James Dawson; and with some current students who are splitting time between schoolwork and the stage.

About the School

Professional Children’s School is an independent day school enrolling up to 150 students in grades 4-12. Founded in 1914, Professional Children’s School provides a challenging and engaging college preparatory program for busy artists, athletes, and other young people who are serious about their studies.

Since our founding, our students have had the option of distance learning.  While technology has changed over the years, the school has remained dedicated to allowing students to balance time in school with professional demands outside, and our community of master educators and devoted peers provides the social and emotional support children need to excel.
