TheaterWorksUSA will present a special industry presentation of the new musical BLOCKED by Ben Wexler. The presentation will take place on Thursday, March 12 at 5:30 pm at TW Studios (151 W 26th St 6th floor, New York, NY 10001). For reservations, please contact Jillian Carucci at jcarucci@twusa.org.

BLOCKED is a response to the mass proliferation of social media, particularly amongst teenagers. It tells the story of four teenagers using Agora, a fictional app, to form real connections with each other that enable them to bridge the gulf between them and their parents, and the story of their parents learning to engage honestly with their children about Agora without losing their trust."

Ben Wexler is a composer, lyricist, and educator. He is a 2019 Jonathan Larson Grant Winner and 2018 Fred Ebb Award Finalist. His writing for musical theater includes Washington Square (book, Kirsten Childs; development through Playwrights Horizons), Key Change (2019 Richard Rodgers Award Finalist), The Orchestra (Whitman/Grove Theatricals commission), BLOCKED

(TheaterWorksUSA Commission), Speech and Debate (Sycamore Pictures) and The Insurgents (LAByrinth). Ben is the Artistic Director of the Broadway Advocacy Coalition, which merges Broadway Artists, justice-oriented organizations, and policy experts. Projects include collaborations with New York City Council and Columbia Law School, where he's an adjunct lecturer. Ben served as the associate to Jeanine Tesori for Encores: Off-Center and Fun Home, Violet, and Sunday in the Park With George, all on Broadway. Cast includes Maria-Christina Oliveras (Broadway's Amelie, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Jamie LaVerdiere (Broadway's Motown The Musical, The Pirate Queen), Melanie Brook (TV: "Dispatches from Elsewhere"), Zachary Infante (Regional: John Leguizamo's Kiss My Aztec, MCC's Alice By Heart), Amy Keum (Regional: Be More Chill, Mamma Mia) and Andrew Poston (Regional: NEWSIES), Page Tazewell is the stage manager.
