Mayor Declares Sunday 'Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre Day' in Indianapolis

By:

This weekend marks the official 40th Anniversary of the opening of Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre in Indianapolis, and the city has taken notice.

Mayor Gregory Ballard has declared Sunday to be "Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre Day" in the city of Indianapolis.

The proclamation points out Beef & Boards remains a thriving professional performing arts organization in its 40th Anniversary Season, welcoming more than 150,000 patrons from the entire state of Indiana and beyond annually to its performances. The theatre presents 10 or more productions totaling more than 400 performances each year - including Broadway musicals, Live Theatre for Kids productions and well-known plays.

The proclamation points out that Beef & Boards is one of only seven such theatres in the country - full-time, Equity dinner theatres offering year-round entertainment. It also notes that the theatre has been locally owned and operated either wholly or in part by Hoosier native Douglas E. Stark since 1980, and that "its continued success is an important part of the city's entertainment offerings."

"We are happy to continue to provide quality entertainment in Indianapolis 40 years after opening, and look forward to continuing for many years to come," said longtime Beef & Boards owner Doug Stark. "We thank Mayor Ballard for this honor."
