On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Natya Tarangini institute of classical dance and music in Hyderabad the first family of Kuchipudi dance in India will be showcasing a special performance.

Natya Tarangini was started by Gurus Padmabhushans Dr(s) Raja and Radha Reddy in 1976 in the capital city of New Delhi. They opened the Hyderabad branch in 2007 under the guidance of their older daughter Yamini Reddy.

The celebrations will encompass a double bill anniversary Kuchipudi dance concert by the Kuchipudi dancing family Gurus Raja Radha Reddy, Yamini and Bhavana Reddy.

The family will be seen performing Shiva Leela, a powerful performance that showcases various stories of the Hindu God Lord Shiva through dance enactments. Regarded at once as the protector and the destroyer of the earth, the tale of Lord Shiva is a compelling watch.

The Reddys have the distinction of being the only family in India completely dedicated to dance. While the couple Raja and Radha Reddy have been dedicatedly involved in putting Kuchpudi dance form on the cultural map of India, their efforts are supplemented by Kaushalya Reddy who is the disciple and wife of Raja Reddy and the two daughters Yamini and Bhavana Reddy.

Together the family will bring alive many fiery moods and moments in Shiva Leela.

Schedule:

December 9, at Ravindra Bharathi at 6.30 pm, Free passes on www.eventbrite.com

By students of Natya Tarangini on December 10 at CCRT amphi-theatre
