Interview: UK BASED ARTIST TASHA LEAPER On Performing Her Madonna Act In India Tasha Leaper is known around the world as one of the most sought after Madonna impersonators. From her Material Girl performances to her incredible energy on stage, audiences vouch that watching her live is like watching the queen of pop herself.

Recently, Leaper was in India for her India debut tour. Not only did India witness its first ever Madonna tribute act but Tasha and her crew too witnessed the frenzy of the Indian audience for the first time ever.

After her splendid performance BWW spoke with Tasha Leaper on her Indian tour and being a Madonna fan

How long have you been a Madonna fan. Did you always want to pay a tribute to the artist or was it an organic process where people began noticing the resemblance.

Tasha: Like most girls in the eighties I always admired Madonna but it wasn't until I decided to do my tribute that I became more of a fan after studying her.I trained and performed as a dancer initially but started to sing professionally after I stopped dancing. I used to sing Papa Don't Preach and people commented that I sounded similar to Madonna. Everything kind of evolved from there as I was missing my dancing so I figured she was the perfect person for me to pay tribute to.

Tell us about your experiences in India. Any expectations you had from the Indian audiences.Tasha: My dancers and I had an amazing time. The show producers in Mumbai, Vishaal and Jiji, were the perfect hosts and looked after us so well. They made the show look super glamorous with the LED wall and visuals that they created. The audiences were fantastic, very vocal and up dancing in the aisles. We had 2 great shows!

Have you ever had any crazy Madonna fan moments. Have people gone berserk or emotional. Any thing that comes to your mind?

Tasha: Nothing crazy comes to mind but I've had some people get very emotional after my shows. Many say they've been taken back to their youth during parts of the show which is always lovely to hear.

You bring a unique energy to the show. Do you have to work towards it or being a Madonna fan brings that in

Tasha: I think my energy comes from being a dancer. Madonna has always given 100% in her shows so I couldn't possibly give any less.

Most memorable stage moment that you may want to share

Tasha: Again, nothing crazy but really the best part of being on stage is the moment when you see everything click and the crowds having an amazing time. I'm fortunate to see this happen a lot- it really is an incredible feeling.
