MATILDA Coming To Reykjavík City Theatre 3/15

Matilda is playing at Reykjavík City Theatre in Iceland on March 15th, 2019.

Matilda is a new musical that is based on Roald Dahl's renowned novel. The little girl Matilda is unusually intelligent, emotional and literary and probably because of that with a particularly rich imagination. Her parents, however, are from another sheep house, ignorant and unobtrusive, and the headmaster, Karitas Mínherfa, is the cleanest nightmare. Matilda, however, lurks in various ways against the folly of the people and with her strength and courage she manages to gain a place in the world. This is a famous story of a little girl who develops super-power in the struggle against the wickedness of the world.

The performance was premiered at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare in 2010. From there he was transported to the West End and Broadway, and has often entered the attendance scene, as an exceptionally impressive musical that enriches young and old. Then Matilda has been awarded a hundred awards of various kinds and hence sixteen awards as the best musical. The scriptwriter is the playwright Dennis Kelly, who has composed a number of outstanding plays, among them Elsku barn, which the City Theater showed in 2011. Australian musician Tim Minchin is one of the foremost musical composers of the time and has received numerous awards, most recently the Olivier Prize for the Groundhog musical Day shown in the Old Vic in London and on Broadway last year and more recently.
