The Grand to present THE JULIAN BLISS SEPTET AND A TRIBUTE TO BENNY GOODMAN, 3/3

On Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 8 p.m., The Grand 1894 Opera House presents THE JULIAN BLISS SEPTET AND A TRIBUTE TO BENNY GOODMAN.

Julian Bliss is one of the world's finest clarinetists, excelling as a concerto soloist, chamber musician, jazz artist, and tireless musical explorer. His passion for the music of Benny Goodman began when Julian was age 7. In 2010, he joined a handpicked selection of some of the best musicians on the jazz scene to form the Julian Bliss Septet. Their exceptional musicianship and stunning showmanship have thrilled audiences worldwide.

"The Julian Bliss Septet and A Tribute to Benny Goodman celebrates not only the virtuoso pioneer of American swing music but captures the vibrant joy of a simple unadorned melody played with feeling and conviction," says Critical Jazz.

This performance is sponsored in part by Pam and Dennis Miller and supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and Texas Commission on the Arts.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Grand 1894 Opera House is located in Galveston's historic downtown Cultural Arts District, and is recognized as "The Official Opera House of the State of Texas."
