The Grand Reschedules AN EVENING WITH SOFIA LOREN
![]()
The Grand 1894 Opera House announced that the November 12, 2017 performance of An Evening with Sophia Loren has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 4pm. The rescheduling of Ms. Loren's performance was necessary because her Galveston performance was part of her touring schedule that included performances in theatres on the East Coast that were damaged by Hurricane Irma.
Of all the foreign sex symbols to explode on the American screen in the 1950s, Sophia Loren is the most iconic and the most enduring. The prolific career of this legendary movie star spans over five decades. She won the first Academy Award presented for a foreign language role with Two Women. Decades later, in 1991, Loren received an Honorary Award from the Academy in acknowledgment of her incredible contributions to world cinema. Synonymous with grace, beauty, and artistry, the Oscar-winning actress, Sophia Loren will captivate you with her intimate onstage conversation with former Entertainment Tonight host Bill Harris. Enjoy film clips, home movies, and a Q & A from the audience.
This performance is sponsored by Rudy & Paco Restaurant & Bar.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Grand 1894 Opera House is located in Galveston's historic downtown Cultural Arts District, and is recognized as "The Official Opera House of the State of Texas."
