TOWARDS ZERO Opens in January at CCCT

By:

Clear Creek Community Theatre brings Agatha Christie's murder mystery, "Towards Zero", to its stage January 15 - 31st. Popular with audiences everywhere, CCCT's latest Christie offering promises to keep you guessing until the very end.

Director Aprille Meek notes" 'Towards Zero' is one of Christie's plays that is not done as often as others which is a shame because it's a wonderful mystery." Based on one of Christie's most exciting novels "the depth of characters and their relationships much more thoroughly examined than her other stories. Meek adds "We've done a lot of table work on this show as the characters past and past relationships play a very important role in the outcome of events, so guiding actors through the understanding of the characters has been fascinating."

Meek is also excited about designing and building the one-room set. "There are no secret doors (like in Spider's Web) but it's the seaside home of a wealthy woman - Lady Camilla Tressilian, and I'm looking forward to the challenge to create that on our stage".

Meek shares a conversation in the show that "really gives you a nice moment into the mind of Dame Agatha":

"Always seems to me these yarns begin in the wrong place. Begin with the murder. But the murder's not really the beginning"

"As I see it, the murder is the end of the story. I mean the real story begins long before - years before, sometimes... All the causes and events that bring the people concerned to a certain place on a certain day at a certain time."

"I think you've put it very clearly, Thomas. All sorts of people converging towards a given spot and hour - all going towards zero."

Solving the mystery in this play requires understanding what motivates each character and understanding decisions that were made long before they arrived at Lady Tressillian's seaside manor. "Towards Zero" runs January 15 - 31st, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2:30pm. Tickets are $13-15 and group rates are available either online at www.clearcreekcommunitytheatre.com or by calling the box office 281-335-5228.

Clear Creek Community Theatre is located at 18091 Upper Bay Road in Nassau Bay.
