SRO Presents NEXT TO NORMAL at Obsidian, Now thru 2/15

Standing Room Only will stage NEXT TO NORMAL, the award-winning and ground-breakingBroadway rock musical, today, January 23 through February 15, 2014 at Obsidian Art Space.

Featuring a thrilling score by Tom Kitt and a powerhouse book by Brian Yorkey, NEXT TONORMAL shares one family's struggles with mental illness.

NEXT TO NORMAL follows the trials of a common suburban family: Dan Goodman, his wife, Diana and their two children, Natalie and Gabe. Diana has struggled for years with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and depression stemming from a trauma almost 16 years before. As Diana's demons start to encroach into the everyday lives of the family members, each must find a way to get by, to grieve, to accept and forgive. This contemporary musical, winner of multiple Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize, addresses such issues as grieving a loss, ethics in
modern psychiatry, and suburban life. With provocative lyrics and a thrilling score, NEXT TO NORMAL shows how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family's world intact

Performance dates are today, January 23, 24, 25, 31 and February 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15 at 8:00pm with matinees on Saturday, February 1 and and Sunday, February 9 at 2:00pm.
