The Main Street Theater, Houston's production of Richard III, directed by Guy Roberts, opens tonight at Divadlo Na Pradle in Prague, Czech Republic, as part of the Prague Shakespeare Festival.

“Now is the winter of our discontent / made glorious summer by this sun of York” The deliciously wicked tale of Shakespeare’s most popular villain. Continuing the PSF tradition of international collaborations, Richard III is a co-production with Main Street Theater, from Houston, TX in the United States. The production features local artists from Texas and the Czech Republic joining together to create a vibrant, new production that will play on tour in both Houston and Prague.

Shakespeare's conclusion to his epic Wars of the Roses chronicles, Richard III is a riveting portrayal of the politics of power—both personal and political—at their most devious and bloody. PSF Artistic Director Guy Roberts directs and stars as Richard, the man audiences have loved to hate for four hundred years. Deformed in body and spirit, this depraved madman is obsessed with becoming King of England. Does he fall? Of course, but not before he has taken all of us on his wickedly entertaining ride.
