Rice University Presents BOB: A LIFE IN 5 ACTS

Rice University presents Bob: A Life in Five Acts, Feb 13-21. Bob is an absurdist tale of the American dream and one man's odyssey from a White Castle hamburger stand through the rest stops of America on his way to find himself. Called, "A comic amalgam of Brechtian epic theatre and vaudeville" by TDF Stages, "Bob" is a comedic exploration of American mythology and values, the treacherous pursuit of happiness, and discovering what it means to be truly "great." Due to the nature of the play Bob is for mature audiences only.

Performances are February 13th and 14th at 8:00pm, February 15th at 3:00pm and February 19th-21st at 8:00pm. Tickets: Students $5, Rice Alumni, Faculty, Staff & Senior Citizens $8, General Admission $10, and Groups of 10+ $5. Performances are at Hamman Hall. Julia Traber will be the guest director of "Bob". Traber's most recent directing credits include "Almost, Maine" for Unity Theatre, the regional premiere of "All Girls" at Stark Naked Theatre, "Mauritius" for the Rice Theatre Program, and "The Lion in Winter" for the Texas Repertory Theatre Company. The Houston Chronicle described her direction of "Miss Julie" as "detailed, succinct, and stunning" and the Houston Press praised her for the characterizations she obtained from her cast. She has worked with various theatres and institutions including Alley Theatre, Houston Shakespeare Festival, The Texas Repertory Theatre Co., and The University of Houston. Currently, she is the assistant artistic director at the Classical Theatre Company.

Mark Krouskop, Lecturer and Production Manager of the Rice Theatre Program, who recently designed the slums for "Little Shop of Horrors" and the picturesque for "the Servant of Two Masters", will be the set designer for "Bob: A Life in Five Acts". Mr. Krouskop has done set design for Houston Shakespeare Festival's productions of "A Comedy of Errors" and "Hamlet".
